(CASE UPDATE)

Police have made a significant development in the long-running investigation into the disappearance and suspected murder of Donna Keogh, who was just 17 years old when she went missing in 1998.

A 64-year-old man from the Leeds area was arrested on the morning of Tuesday 31 March 2026 on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody for questioning.

Donna was last seen in central Middlesbrough on 28 April 1998. Investigators have established that she is known to have travelled to Leeds during that same year, and recent police enquiries have focused on the Leeds area.

Despite extensive investigations spanning nearly three decades, Donnaโ€™s body has never been recovered. Detectives strongly believe she was murdered shortly after her disappearance.

Officers from Cleveland Police, working alongside West Yorkshire Police, have been carrying out targeted enquiries in recent weeks, leading to this latest arrest.

The Senior Investigating Officer has confirmed that police remain determined to establish the truth and provide answers for Donnaโ€™s family, who have lived with uncertainty for almost 30 years.

Authorities continue to urge anyone who may have seen Donna, spoken to her, or has any knowledge of her movements โ€” particularly in Leeds during 1998 โ€” to come forward.

A ยฃ20,000 reward remains available for information that leads to significant progress in the case.
